Richard Downing Airport Runway Expansion

Richard Downing Airport

Richard Downing Airport is located approx. 2 miles northeast of the City of Coshocton and is centrally located in the county. Richard Downing operates as a general aviation service airport. It currently has one 5000 foot runway and is equipped with lights for night time use. Richard Downing Airport has a very active and capable Board of Directors. The Board operates with a five year plan for future improvements. The airport constructed a new 3100 SF administrative building in 2004 and has recently expanded its aprons and taxiways as well as completed an extension to its runway, which now extends to 5,000 feet. This extension of the runway has given the airport the capability of handling all types of corporate jets. The airport currently has 30-40 acres of land available for commercial development. The airport area is currently served by the Coshocton County water and sewer system and has access to high speed internet service.

Port Columbus International Airport

Columbus Port Columbus International Airport is 72 miles West of Coshocton and is centrally located in Ohio with a diverse mix of air carriers.  The airport is operated by the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, which also oversees the operation of cargo-dedicated Rickenbacker International Airport and general aviation airport Bolton Field. Additionally, the Columbus Regional Airport Authority is the Grantee of Foreign-Trade Zone No. 138. As Grantee, the Airport Authority is responsible for the administration, marketing and oversight of FTZ No. 138 and can provide FTZ services in 25 Central Ohio counties.

Cleveland International Airport

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is a public airport located 95 miles North of Coshocton and 9 miles southwest of downtown Cleveland, Ohio and is the largest airport in the state of Ohio. Cleveland Hopkins International Airport handled 11,460,002 passengers in 2005, a growth of nearly 2% over 2004. It is a major hub for both Continental Airlines and its regional carrier ExpressJet. Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, along with Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport (BKL) comprise the Cleveland Airport System operated by the City of Cleveland.

Pittsburgh International Airport

Pittsburgh International Airport is a public airport that is 106 East of Coshocton. It is a world-class facility that accommodates more than eight million travelers in nearly 148,000 aircraft operations per year. Pittsburgh International Airport is served by 12 commercial air carriers. Pittsburgh International Airport is operated and managed by the Allegheny County Airport Authority. Designed to be the nation's best gateway to international commerce, PIT is within a 90-minute flight of 70 percent of North America's population.

Akron-Canton Regional Airport

Akron-Canton Regional Airport is 62 miles North East of Coshocton. Two outstanding low cost carriers- AirTran Airways and Frontier Airlines- anchor the airline services. They, plus three network carriers- Delta Air Lines, US Airways and United Express- offer nonstop or one-stop flights to destinations throughout the U.S. and the globe. CAK offers 90 arrival and departure flights to fourteen nonstop destinations including Atlanta, Boston, New York (LaGuardia), Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Washington D.C, (Reagan National Airport), Orlando, Tampa, Ft. Myers, Ft. Lauderdale, Denver, Detroit, Chicago (O Hare).
